Don't shy away from a trait you give your character because it is a trait you have. You are as much of the story as your characters are. They are you and you are them.
Don't be ashamed to use character chart to help you organize your characters! You'll be surprised at how much they can grow when you take time to write out a bit about them!
It's okay to have multiple drafts of one story. Who knows you might be able to even combine some of those drafts and create something even better!
